The Warren County Board of Supervisors met twice Tuesday, once in regular session, and again for a budget hearing. In regular session, the board held a public hearing regarding the elimination of the Hoover Street bridge over Interstate 35 as part of a Iowa DOT proposal. No official action was taken after the hearing, which had several homeowners opposed to the project speak, as well as representatives from the Martensdale-St. Mary’s School District. A second hearing will take place on March 19th. The board held a public hearing on vacating an alleyway, approved a five-year law enforcement contract with the city of New Virginia, and a one-year contract with the city of Cumming. During the evening session, the supervisors held a public hearing on and approved the 2019/20 budget, as well as approved the salaries of elected officials.
