A pair of close contests was the story of the day for the Simpson Storm softball team, playing games 3 and 4 of their 16 game Florida trip, as they took down Potsdam 9-5, and Fredonia 2-1 in walkoff fashion. Against Potsdam, the Storm gained an early lead before falling behind 4-2 in the third. A four run fourth gave the Storm a lead they wouldn’t relinquish however, and Randie Richmond secured the win in two innings of work with one strikeout. Against Fredonia, runs were at a premium as the Storm were down 1-0 heading into the 7th with not much offense to speak of. Emily Bell got the inning started with a double and later scored on a sacrifice bunt by Amron Born. Born stole second and advanced to third on a groundout before scoring on a Sarah Trent single with two outs to seal the win for the Storm. Simpson is now 3-1 and continue their playin Florida this week.
