A Pella High School trumpet player will perform among music students around the country during spring break this week.
Annaleigh Babcock is part of the 2019 Honor Band of America, and will attend the Music for All National Festival in Indianapolis this week. Babcock says she owes a lot of her success to the strength of the music programs at Pella High School and the students she performs with in Pella Jazz I and the Marching Dutch.
“I think it says that Pella really likes to push their kids to be the best that they can be,” she says.
Emeritus Professor Ray Cramer of Indiana University will lead the band made up of musicians from 18 different states. Babcock’s bandmate Isaac Piersma was selected as first alternate drummer on the Jazz Band of America.
