Pella Jazz I in January 2018

Musicians on Pella’s award-winning jazz ensemble were recognized among the best in Iowa. Isaac Piersma on drums, Troy Miller on vibes, and Annaleigh Babcock and Levi Dugger on trumpet were selected to the Jazz Educators of Iowa Class 3A All-State band. The four students will perform at the All-State Jazz Concert in Des Moines on May 8th and 9th. Pella Jazz I will next compete at the Iowa Jazz Championships, seeking the program’s 18th state championship and 37th consecutive top four finish in the 41 years of the event. The performance will take place in the Scheman Building at Iowa State University in Ames on Tuesday, April 2nd at 1:45 p.m., with the top two teams from each class performing in the finals that evening at Stephens Auditorium.
