The Warren County Board of Supervisors met in special session Thursday afternoon to discuss the building of a new shop area. Warren County Engineer David Carroll reported to the board that the current shop in Indianola is inefficient, and doesn’t let the county serve the needs of residents. The need for a new shop has been around as far back as 2011, with the board putting $7 million into the proposed site for the new shop since 2017. The proposed shop would cost over $6 million more to build, which includes extra salt storage. The supervisors all agreed at the meeting the building a new shop was a priority, but with the Justice Center Project and a new E911 system, the board will have to come up with ways to cover the financial cost. No decisions were officially made, as the board wants to meet with their financial advisors to discuss financing the project.
