To open their season, the Pella boys golf team shot a 152 nine hole score to win the Knoxville meet over the second place host Panthers, who shot 179. In an early sign of the potential strength and consistency for this year’s team, all five Pella players each shot 38 to earn the runner-up medalist status, including Trey Wood, John Oltman, Luke Galeazzi, Will Simpson, and Ethan Gordon. Knoxville’s Tyler Vaske shot 35 to earn the best score at the meet. Pella’s boys will head to Willow Creek Golf Course Thursday to take on Norwalk and DCG.

Pella’s girls track and field team competed against some of the largest schools in Iowa at the Waukee Girls Invitational yesterday. No official team scores were kept. Lindsey Blommers had the 3rd fastest 400 meter race in the field at 1:05.43, Elly Cairney’s 104-09 discus throw was the 3rd longest, the 4×200 relay team of Metsje Miller, Evie Armstrong, Roselande Vanderhoff, and Elsie Thoreson was also in 3rd at 1:48.82, and Pella’s distance medley relay of Calla Kerndt, Emily Holterhaus, Ashley Blommers, and Caroline McMartin was 2nd fastest at 4:30.74. The Lady Dutch return to action Thursday in Nevada.
