For the teams competing on Eagle Lane Tuesday evening, it was a successful night as the girls soccer and tennis squads each earned victory.
Pella Christian soccer defeated Class 3A Ottumwa 6-nil in their home opener. The Eagles outshot the Bulldogs 14-1 on goal, with P.C. racking up 14 corner kicks in a game where all of their varsity players hit the pitch. Senior Lindsay Breon scored two goals and had two assists, and junior Anna Van Zee also found the back of the net twice. The other goals were scored by Claire Milligan and Molly Bolt. Pella Christian improves to 2-0 and hosts Centerville Thursday in a varsity girls-boys doubleheader.
Pella Christian’s girls tennis team had a 10-1 win to open the courts at Eagle Lane over Centerville. Morgan Bush, Lizzy Posthuma, Jaden Joy Morgan, Kitty Gu, and Olivia Van Der Pol were the individual winners. They are 2-0 on the season and travel to Indianola Thursday.
