The film “Dear Frankie” is this month’s feature presentation for the International Film Club at the Knoxville Public Library.
This award-winning movie tells the story of a woman who fled from an abusive marriage, but keeps the secret from her son by telling him his father is a merchant seaman. He sends and receives letters from him — which are really written by his mother, to keep up the charade.
But when the ship he supposedly serves on comes to port, she must hire a man to pose as his father and keep him from learning the truth.
This 2004 movie will be shown at the library on Wednesday, April 18th form 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. It is free and open to the public; the movie is rated PG-13.
