The anticipation is building for tonight’s prom at Knoxville High School, as students prepare to make a big entrance and enjoy their special night.

“Casino Royale” is the theme for this year’s event; the high school commons and media center will be the site for the dance, and workers spent the day on Friday hanging the decorations and getting everything ready.

Bridgette Jackson is the junior class advisor at Knoxville High School; she tells KNIA/KRLS News helping to organize the prom is an educational experience for the students taking part, as well as a fun one.

“We have an election the year before, and we elect five junior class officers; and those five are responsible for getting the information out to the junior class; and then finding out what it is that they’re going to do for theme and decoration. So it’s kind of a project management kind of thing that they have to do,” Jackson says.

The traditional pre-prom walk begins at 7 o’clock, as friends, family and the community turn out to watch the students in procession past the front of the school; they’ll be available for pictures as they walk, before coming around to the east side of the high school and entering for the prom itself.
