The Warren County Board of Supervisors have begun the process to replace the Warren County 911 system, a process that will cost the county $11 million. Warren County 911 Director Doug McCasland tells KNIA News the plans moving forward are taking shape, and improvements are well on the way.

“The Warren County Joint 911 Service Board recently had a meeting, progressing with a project that would increase coverage in the schools, and give us immediate radio coverage there. They are still working on the processes of what that is gonna take, but we are looking at seven tower sites that we’ll probably have to add to get that coverage and give us a true public safety radio system.”

Indianola Mayor Kelly Shaw is a member of the Warren County Emergency Management Commission, and said at the most recent city council meeting the commission is still working out the financial aspects of replacing the system, especially who is to pay for radio upgrades for the smaller emergency departments of the area.
