The Indianola City Council approved the final pieces of the Jerry Kelley Trail Project at their most recent meeting Monday, taking advantage of grant funds from the Iowa Department of Transportation. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the city received the grant back in 2013, and despite some setbacks is moving forward.
“The project will connect Veteran’s Memorial Pool with Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary. Trail connections are important, and this one has been on the books for some time. We want to make sure residents have safe access to trails and connectivity to the city other than just driving a car.”
Waller also said in his experience improving trails is improving the quality of life of the city, and provides access to multiple outdoor activities that no longer need a vehicle to get to.
