It was another successful day for the Tulip City track and field programs at the 110th Drake Relays. Pella’s Middle School Boys won the 1600 meter medley race, which included the group of CJ Shetterly, Roman Hugan, Kenson Fuller, and Chase Lauman running a time of 3:49.7. For the high school athletes, Pella’s Kody Huisman and Nick DeJong finished 8th and 9th overall in the discuss, with Huisman throwing 159-02 and DeJong at 157-05. The 4×200 relay girls had their best race of the season so far, running 1:45.49, which included Metsje Miller, Calla Kerndt, Roselande Vanderhoff, and Elsie Thoreson. Pella’s 4×400 relay of Ashley Blommers, Lindsey Blommers, Thoreson, and Caroline McMartin had a season best 4:06.14, good for 18th overall.

Pella Christian’s Blake Veenstra topped the Pella duo of Huisman and DeJong in the discus in finishing 7th, throwing a season-best 163-4 on his sixth and final throw of the day. Allison Van Gorp of the Eagles finished 18th in the shot put with a toss of 35-10.25. More Dutch and Eagles are at the final day of the Drake Relays today, stay tuned to 92.1 KRLS for updates.
