The meet where the Knoxville Track and Field Squads want to score the maximum number of points has arrived. The South Central Conference Track and Field meet is tonight in Chariton and the Knoxville girls are contenders to win it all. The Panthers have runners in nearly every event that can contend from sprints to distance events. Abbey Jackson has been the best sprinter for the Panthers owning the second seed in the 200 and the top seed in the 400. Jackson has also done well in the 100 this season. Katie Keitges has the middle distance and the 1500 covered with a nearly three second advantage in the 800 and a 30 second head start in the second seed in the 1500. The Panthers 4×200, 800 and 800 Medley Relay are also contenders to win. On the boys side, Kieren Nichols is ranked third in the 400 while Jordan Bacon is in the top three of the 1600 and 3200 races. Alex Buckley, who has been injured all season went from likely not being able to compete to in the top four in both the shot put and discus. His second place discus throw of 131 feet 3.5 inches was done at the Carlisle meet last week. Tonight’s conference meet is scheduled to get underway at 4:30.

The Knoxville Soccer Squads will try to get in a varsity double header tonight after not being able to do that same on Tuesday due to bad weather. The Panthers will take on Carlisle with the girls playing first at 5:30. The Panthers played the Wildcats early in the season and lost in their season opener 7-0. Since then, Knoxville has gone 6-2 and has outscored its opponents 21-9 with four consecutive shut outs. The boys easily defeated Carlisle in their season opener 6-0. The Panthers are 6-3 while the Wildcats stand at 3-7.

The Knoxville Girls Golf Squad heads to Albia for a meet today. The Panthers hope to get back Amy Sullivan who was out due to an illness on Monday in their home meet against PCM. Tee off is scheduled for 4:00.
