
The Indianola High School girls golf team took him first place hardware Thursday at Ottumwa. Top golfers on the day for the Indians were Liv Mckelvey and Maddie Hayes each shooting a 103, while Jaiden Wallander carded a 105 and Anna Marvelli shot a 107. The girls will next golf on Tuesday in the Little Hawkeye Conference meet at Warrior Run Golf Course in Norwalk.
Another tough matchup against Ballard led to a 9-2 defeat for the Indianola boys tennis squad. Winning for the Indians were Christian Jauron at #3 singles, and Matt and Curran Wadle at #5 singles. The Indians will take on another tough conference opponent today, traveling to take on the Warriors of Norwalk.
The Indianola girls soccer team took down Des Moines East in non-conference play 2-1. The Indians got off to a good lead early on with a goal from Mia Hughes in the 20th minute, and then another from Alyvia Fuller at the start of the second half. East scored a goal one minute later to keep the game close, but the Indians defense held tough for the rest of the contest to earn the victory. The win is the second in a row for the Indians, who will move on to play Carlisle on Saturday morning.
The Indians boys were not to be outdone, as they took down Creston in a non-conference matchup 7-2. Langdon Kingkade scored a first half hat trick, with Carter Bussanmus and Doug VanderLinden to get the Indians up 5-0 at the halftime break. Parker Hansen and Shane Watson added a goal each in the second half to seal the victory. Indianola will next take on Winterset on Tuesday.
