Nationals is three months away, but it’s not too early for Knoxville residents and businesses to begin making arrangements for the city’s busiest week of the year.
The Knoxville Chamber of Commerce is helping homeowners who want to rent out space to out of town visitors; with hotel and camping space at a premium, many residents take guests into their homes or onto their property for the week.
Hannah Vander Veer from the Knoxville Chamber says their website has information for anyone looking to rent space to visitors; she tells KNIA/KRLS News because of the time and distance involved, a good number of these inquiries come from Australia and New Zealand.
“We have people from all over the world looking for housing; the people from Australia and New Zealand specifically love to stay in people’s houses — they love the hospitality aspect of it, and they’re really fun guests to have,” Vander Veer says.
The Chamber is also helping those who want to host one of the many garage sales which take place during Nationals week, by making their information available online.
And advice for local businesses to expand their offerings and marketing efforts during Nationals will be the subject of this month’s Lunch and Learn presentation; it will be on Tuesday, May 21st from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum.
