Heavy rainfall is in the forecast today, with cooler temperatures on the way as well. According to the National Weather Service, widespread moderate to heavy precipitation is expected to continue through Thursday morning, with widespread amounts of up to two inches expected. A slight to marginal risk of severe weather is in the forecast, especially along and southeast of Marion County and primarily in the evening. The rain will clear out on Thursday, followed by several days of generally quiet but unseasonably cool air, with Thursday in particular staying cold and raw, as high temperatures top out in the low 50s and northwest winds around 15-20 mph, which is when high school track and field athletes are scheduled to qualify for the state meet.
