The Indianola High School production of the musical “Newsies” was recently honored in the Iowa High School Musical Theatre Awards Showcase, receiving several top marks. The overall performance of the show won Outstanding Overall Performance, Outstanding Ensemble, and Outstanding Student Orchestra. Individual students were honored as well, with Doug Voigts receiving Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role for his work as “Davey Jacobs”, while Majesty Constable was recognized for playing “Katherine Plumber” with Outstanding Performance in a Principal Role. Constable also qualified for the Triple Threat Program as part of the awards showcase.
