Knoxville Police will round out a busy weekend at the end of May and start of June with another event for kids; this time, it will be their annual Kids Fishing Day.

Officers will be out at Marion County Park on Saturday, June 1st from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for this free event; Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada tells KNIA/KRLS News his department will be on hand to help kids give fishing a try.

“It’s a free fishing day for children, giving them some experience in what it’s like to fish; there will be people there that will teach them how to fish, show them how it’s done. We have some poles and bait available, so all they’ll have to do is show up,” Chief Losada says.

There will also be free hotdogs for lunch, and a chance for kids to win prizes; the event is for ages 8 to 17 only.

This will come a day after the Hotdogs and Helmets bike safety event downtown, and will overlap with the bicycle sale being held at 10:00 a.m. that morning at Roche and Rock Island Street.
