South-central Iowa will have a voice heard by the nation tomorrow, as the United States House of Representatives Select Climate Crisis Committee will hear testimony from Lacona area farmer Matt Russell. Russell is also the current executive director of Iowa Interfaith Power & Light, a statewide organization dedicated to bringing people of faith together to find solutions to climate change, and has written national media pieces on farmers adapting practices to better fit the changing world. Russell will testify on the challenges and opportunities global warming presents for American farmers, and how rural America can lead the way on developing the solutions for clean energy and carbon capture on our farms, as farmers will be the most affected by the changing climate. The hearing begins at 9am.
