After leading the Indianola softball team in batting average, home runs, RBI, and nearly every other offensive category as just a freshman on the class 5A runner-up squad, sophomore Destiny Lewis picked right up where she left off in Monday’s season opener against Carlisle. Lewis hit a home run in her first at bat, after hitting 14 in her freshman campaign. Lewis won’t go at it alone, as the Indians are replenishing 6 graduated seniors from their lineup a year ago, and saw senior Emily Chaplin hit another over the fence in the season opener. The Indians had their doubleheader against Des Moines East canceled due to rain on Tuesday, but will hit the field again Friday hosting Southeast Polk.
