An active weather pattern has increased the chances for severe weather in south central Iowa over the Memorial Day Weekend. A slight risk of severe thunderstorms is in place this evening, Saturday, and Monday. Chances for precipitation will vary all weekend as storms will be scattered in nature. The primary threats will be heavy rain, large hail, and damaging winds throughout the days with the risk in place. KNIA/KRLS is on the air with live Severe Weather Action Team coverage for any severe thunderstorm or tornado warning for any portion of Marion County, with backup generators ensuring the coverage stays on if the power goes out.
