Today is Memorial Day, a day for remembering and honoring those who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Though celebrated before, it officially became a holiday in 1868 to honor the lives of fallen Civil War soldiers. Memorial Day differs from Veterans Day, which celebrates all Veterans who have served in the United States armed forces, and Armed Forces Day, which celebrates all of those who are actively serving.
