The Panther Pantry is switching to summertime hours, and will stay on this schedule during June, July and August.

The food pantry located at Knoxville High School will still be open on the first and third Mondays of each month; hours will now be from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Angie Mitchell is the nurse for the Knoxville School District, and works with the Panther Pantry; she tells KNIA/KRLS News these hours are being switched for the convenience of the families using the pantry.

“That’s to accommodate and pair nicely with the summer lunch program, which will be ending about noon; and that way, families who are there to eat can visit the food pantry before they leave to go home,” Mitchell says.

The Panther Pantry is available to any student in the Knoxville School District and their families; when school resumes in the fall, the pantry will go back to its usual hours from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
