American Legion Post 89 and VFW Post 5242 in Pella partnered to remember veterans over the Memorial Day weekend. The organizations held the annual Memorial Day remembrance ceremony on Sunday at the Pella Memorial Building. LTC Russell Bossard, retired from the Army in 2017, spoke about the importance of the day of remembrance. The ceremony included patriotic music and recognition of veterans in attendance from all five branches of the military, as well as a time to remember those service members who have died. Local boys scouts placed a memorial wreath. The event concluded with a gun salute and the playing of taps.
