indianola-3

The Indianola softball team gave up just four hits and the combined pitching effort from Kate Kralik and Brooke Tucker struck out 11 Grinnell batters Wednesday night in a 5-0 victory heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The Indians struck first after Selia Becker singled in the 1st inning and came around to score on a Mara Bishop ground out. Indianola picked up three runs in the second with hits from Becker, Gracey May, Alley May, and an RBI double from Kassie Baker. The Indians added another in the fourth on an RBI single from Tucker to seal the victory. Kralik earned the victory, striking out eight in four innings of work.

The Indians baseball squad had a much closer affair with the Tigers, with neither team finding the scoresheet through the first three innings of play. Indianola took a 1-0 lead on a Kael Kolarik double to score Cael Aldridge before Grinnell scored in their half of the fifth to tie the score at 1 apiece. The Indians came right back after Kolarik hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning to score Quinn Vesey, which was all the Indians needed to close out the night. Dallas Jackson pitched six innings to earn the win on the mound, with Tyce Johnson earning a save.

The Indians softball team is now 13-4 and will play Friday at Oskaloosa, while the baseball team advances to 6-7 and plays Centerville tonight in a game that can be heard on 94.3 KNIA. Pregame coverage begins at 7:15pm, with first pitch scheduled for 7:30.
