The resignation of a Pella School Board member is now official — as of Monday, Lisa Jansen was no longer a director serving district one. Superintendent Greg Ebeling says Jansen has been battling a long-term illness and has missed several meetings for treatment. He says Jansen made the tough decision to resign, all while she remains passionate about the future of the Pella Community School District. The board is seeking to appoint someone to fill the district one seat by July 16th, with a process involving interviews of potential candidates. Those who live primarily east of Broadway Street and Clark Street qualify, and would have to run for election this fall to fill the rest of the term beyond the November election. Board President Joan Corbin will make a recommendation to the school board on July 15th. Those interested in joining the Pella School Board to replace Jansen are asked to contact Pella School District Administration by late this afternoon.
