Grace Held, who will go down among the greatest soccer players–if not the best, in Pella High School history, was recognized for her efforts in the state. Held earned All-Iowa Soccer Player of the Year at the annual awards held by the Des Moines Register Friday. At the ceremony, Held accepted the award and gave a brief speech on stage. On the red carpet, she also met Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner. Earlier this season, Held eclipsed the 100 career goal mark and had three straight seasons with more than 30 on her way to 117. Held was a three-time first team All-State Selection by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association, and led Pella to three state tournament appearances in four years.
