A week from today the residents of Marion County will get the chance to celebrate the nation’s 243rd Independence Day. Cities throughout the country will hold different activities to celebrate including multiple chances for residents to enjoy the annual fireworks displays. Knoxville will hold their fireworks display at Youngs Park this year a change from previous years as the thought is to have the display closer to the heart of the city, according to Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch. Knoxville will also see multiple events throughout the day as part of Thrive Knoxville’s 4th of July on the Square celebration. Fireworks displays can also be seen in Pleasantville and Bussey the night of the 4th with activities throughout the day in each town as well. Flag Raising at 7:45 am
KPD Freedom 5k Run/Walk at 8 am
Pancake breakfast at the fire station 8 to 10 am
Yoga on the Lawn with Cairn Yoga at 8:45 am
