Dangerous heat returns to the area this week. According to the National Weather Service, daytime highs will be climbing into the mid to upper 90s Wednesday through Friday, with overnight lows in the upper 70s. Heat index values will top out between 105 to 110 degrees in the afternoon and early evening hours. In these conditions, heat exhaustion is likely with prolonged exposure outdoors and heat stroke is possible. All residents are reminded to stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks in air conditioning, and avoid strenuous physical activity outdoors for extended periods of time. It’s never safe to leave a toddler, disabled person or pet locked in a car, and is especially dangerous during times of sunshine and prolonged heat. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for the latest weather information.
