Several City of Indianola departments were awarded with Prairie Meadows Community Betterment Grants this week. The Indianola Police Department received a grant, which will go towards the purchase of new computer monitor displays in marked units, and new scanners and printers in patrol cars. The Indianola Fire Department also received a Community Betterment Grant, funding the purchase of safety equipment. Chief Greg Chia tells KNIA News the grant will go towards battery operated extrication tools to complement the current set of hydraulic extrication tools which are limited by the length of hydraulic hose attached to tool.
