A new director will be joining the Pella Community School District Board in August. Annette Smith was appointed by Board President Joan Corbin to serve until the November election. Superintendent Greg Ebeling says the recommendation by Corbin came after seven qualified candidates interviewed in June to fill the vacancy left when Lisa Jansen resigned from the board shortly before her death on July 3rd. Ebeling says Smith is the Director of Pathways of Pella, with children attending class in the district. He says she will provide great perspective in the upcoming meetings. Smith will start in her role as District One Director at the August 12th meeting.
