Pella Corporation has announced the company’s investment in several local development projects. According to a release, Pella Corp is supporting the following efforts in the City of Pella:

-Liberty Street Kitchen, a new restaurant in the Molengracht opening this summer
-Cobb Hill Housing Development, rezoned by Pella City Council this week
-South Main Housing Development, south of Casey’s
-Hosting events to explore additional daycare center options with existing centers, school districts, Central College, and other partners
-Pella Corporation Shareholder Family Retreat, located near Idaho Drive

The investments are made possible through Pella Corporation, the shareholder family and their foundations (details from Pella Corp):

Liberty Street Kitchen restaurant: Orchestrate Hospitality and Chef George Fomaro are partnering to open this upscale restaurant later this summer. It will be in the Royal Amsterdam Hotel, 705 East 1st Street, the space formerly occupied by Monarchs Restaurant and Lounge. In addition to serving the community and team members and families, a restaurant of this caliber will fill a needed niche for job candidates, suppliers, customers, and other guests of Pella Corporation.

Cobb Hill housing development: The proposed Cobb Hill development includes 138 housing units targeted toward median income households and is located just outside of the Highway 163 interchange area. It would provide housing options – including single-family and owner-occupied townhome/condominium units – in price ranges that are currently not readily available for the community ($180,000 – $250,000).

South Main housing development: It is a mixed, multi-family development including residential townhouses and flats located at the intersection of Peace Street and Main Street. The development fills a gap for high-end townhomes and flats that allow residents to transition from larger homes, which can open additional houses for sale in the community to address a shortage.

Additional daycare center options: The community is exploring additional daycare center options, including through a public-private partnership. Pella Corporation recently hosted a two-day event with a few existing daycare centers in Pella, the Pella Community School District, local business and industry, Childcare Resource and Referral, Central College, and other potential partners.

Pella Corporation Shareholder Family Retreat: Construction is underway to build a family retreat on the southwest side of Pella. The retreat will be an ideal location for board and family events, with occasional corporate use. It will accommodate small- to medium-sized groups for dinner, include a catering area, and allow for smaller break-out meetings as well. A building permit was granted, and site work is well underway with completion expected in mid-2020.
