indianola-3

The Indianola softball team fell in heartbreaking fashion to Johnson Tuesday evening in the quarterfinal round of the state softball tournament 3-2. The Indians fell behind early in the top of the third 1-0, but quickly tied the score in the bottom half of the inning on a Destiny Lewis RBI double to make it 1-1. Both teams would be held scoreless until the bottom of the 6th when Sammie Becker hit a solo shot over the right field fence to put the Indians up 2-1 heading into the seventh. Johnston, however, would not go down quietly. The Dragons scored two runs on four singles to take a one run lead, and despite an Indianola leadoff single in the bottom half of the inning they couldn’t produce the tying run and fell. The Indians move on to the consolation game this afternoon, which will be their final contest of the season. The game will be broadcast live from Fort Dodge on FM 94.3 Indianola, with pregame coverage beginning at 1:15pm and first pitch scheduled for 1:30. Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson will be on the play-by-play.
