The Knoxville City Council met in regular session Monday. The council held a public hearing regarding the disposal of property located at 210 Terrace Lane in Knoxville. Following the public hearing the council approved a resolution directing the sale of the property to the adjoining property owners Joshua and Katherine DeVos. They approved a resolution in support of the Boone, Jasper, Marion And Warren Counties’ Housing Trust Fund. The fund’s purpose would be to address the affordable housing needs within the region through coordination and long-term planning.
The council approved Changer Order #11 for the Knoxville Public Library Expansion Project for labor and materials needed to replace concrete sidewalks. They approved the purchase of 700 and 800 MHz radios for the Knoxville Police and Fire Departments to match with the current radios used by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The purchase will provide the police department with five new radios and the fire department with four at a total cost of $36,900. Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt agreed not to raise the fees paid to the Sheriff’s Office by both the police and fire departments for dispatch services so the departments could use the saved funds to upgrade our radios. Chief Losada explained to the council that the dispatch service fees were already budgeted by the city so with the saved money the budget money can be used to pay for the new radios.
The council approved an agreement with ETC Institute for a community survey as well as approved the scheduling of a special meeting date of August 12th for interviews to be conducted for the councils vacant position.
