Simpson basketball player Conor Riordan was selected to play for the USA D-3 National Select Basketball Team in Brazil this summer, one of just 10 nationwide athletes to be selected. Riordan blogged about his experiences on the trip, and tells KNIA News his interaction with his teammates is something he will never forget.
“We spent 10 days in Brazil. We all came in to the same situation, none of us knew each other and we all came from different backgrounds. We had to spend a lot of time together on bus rides and plane rides, so it was great getting to know them. And we got to talk to a lot of our opponents as well, many of them spent time in the USA in college, and hearing about their experiences and lifestyles was interesting.”
Riordan also said the trip gave him a better perspective and insight on what life is like in other places in the world, and he feels blessed to be where he is at here in Indianola.
