David Gravel has been haunted by a Knoxville Nationals he has long felt got away from him in 2017. He exercised those demons leading the final 36 laps to win his first Nationals title on Saturday. Gravel let Aaron Reutzel and Joey Saldana battle it out for the first 13 laps before making his move that would give him the lead for the rest of the race. Logan Schuchart was second while Daryn Pittman completed the podium. Donny Schatz’s streak of finishing either first or second for 13 straight years was broken when his checkered in ninth place.
