At approximately 10:16 pm Monday evening the Knoxville Fire Department responded to the report of a residential structure fire in the 100 block of W. Robinson Street. While en route to the scene, crews were advised of flames coming through the roof and that there were people still inside the home. The department arrived to find the rear porch of the home was on fire and spreading towards the home. All residents were out of the home when crews arrived. Crews were able to make a fast attack on the fire stopping it from spreading to the rest of the home. According to Knoxville Fire Chief Cal Wyman the fire was started by a charcoal grill that was used on the deck several hours prior. Chief Wyman would like to remind residents to use caution when using grills on a wooden deck. The Knoxville Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Knoxville Police Department, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
