Pella was once again ranked among the safest cities in Iowa. The ratings were compiled by BackgroundChecks.org and place Pella 3rd overall. Pella Police Chief Robert Bokinsky tells KRLS News the recognition is a testament to the citizens of Pella and their pride in the community.

“I believe people naturally default to the local police department whenever they hear this is a safe community–they seem to praise the local police department, and we’re certainly happy to receive that praise,” he says. “But really, the truth be known, it speaks volumes about the community and the quality of the community.”
