A national ranking has the City of Pella rating among America’s 50 Best Cities to Live, according to U.S.A. Today. Their 24/7 Wall Street group created a weighted index of two dozen measures from the U.S. Census Bureau, comparing communities with more than 8,000 residents. Pella was the 3rd best city out of the 50, rating highly in the categories of low violent crime rate, unemployment, and cost of living, especially compared to the median income in the state. Pella Area Community and Economic Alliance Executive Director Karen Eischen says the ranking reinforces what those in the Tulip City believe, and is backed by the community’s strong economy. Pella placed 3rd behind Beverly Hills, California, and West University Place, Texas.
