Excessive rainfall and strong storms remain a threat in south central Iowa through Sunday morning. Rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the forecasy throughout south central Iowa. Some of the storms may become severe, with strong winds and large hail as the primary threats. Chances are increasing for moderate to heavy rainfall in the region, with amounts between 1-2 inches possible by Sunday evening, and heavier precipitation totals possible depending on the track of the system, especially for those further south in the listening area. The rainfall is needed for many, as according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor Report, those areas generally along and northeast of the Des Moines River remain abnormally dry.
