One week after putting up 59 on their home field, the Indianola football team scored 56 unanswered points to start district play against Ottumwa, taking down the Bulldogs 56-7. The Indians scored on the first drive of the game with a Kael Kolarik 29-yard touchdown scramble, then struck again after a stop on a 7-yard pass from quarterback Brayden Wireman to Blake Kennedy to lead 14-0. The Bulldogs started to get some momentum on their next drive making their way to midfield, but a 58-yard interception return touchdown from Carter Erickson put the game away. The Indians scored four more times in the second quarter, including another from Kolarik, one from Chase Ricketts, an 89-yard connection from Wireman to Peyton Boozell, and a fumble recovery touchdown on a kickoff from Tryce Kirgan to lead 49-0 at the halftime break. Ricketts added another in the third, but the 35-point running clock rule was in effect and the Indians salted the game away. Indianola is now 3-2 on the season and 1-0 in district play, and will travel to Mason City next Friday evening.
