What was once just a pie-in-the-sky dream for Pella and Pella Christian fans finally became reality Saturday when some of the best ever high school football players locally connected in college for six points.

In Dordt University’s 57-22 win over Dakota Wesleyan Saturday, former Pella standout Noah Clayberg made his long awaited debut as a quarterback, and didn’t disappoint — 222 yards rushing and 134 yards passing later, with three touchdowns, Clayberg flashed the incredible game-breaking ability that guided Pella to the first two of three championships.

And in the track meet, Clayberg found the Iowa High School all-time leading receiving yardage leader from the cross town Eagles, as Levi Jungling caught a 64 yard touchdown pass from Noah and also scored a rushing touchdown in his return from a potentially-major shoulder injury.

Jungling’s former high school quarterback continued to be a dominant force on the Dordt defensive line, as David Kacmarynski had 1.5 tackles for loss and five total tackles in the winning effort. Former Pella running back Reece Schnell had 44 yards on just two carries as well, including a 40 yarder, Dordt Freshman and former Pella defender Sam Warner had four tackles at linebacker, and Clayberg’s former backfield teammate Quinton Murphy had two tackles defensively.
