With the quick change from warm temperatures to cold, it’s just a matter of time before the annual flu season starts showing up across Iowa. From October through May the highest number of flu cases are reported across the country. Nurse Judi Van Hulzen with Marion County Public Health tells KNIA/KRLS News what people should be doing now to help prevent against another flu outbreak. Van Hulzen says the best way to keep from getting the flu is to get the flu shot as well as wash your hands with soap and water thoroughly for 20 seconds to kill the germs that cause the flu. She says kids should get the flu shot before Halloween to help stop the spread during the holiday.
