The Simpson Storm football team has started out American Rivers Conference play 3-0 after pulling off a 29-21 victory on the road at Nebraska Wesleyan Saturday, where Storm dominated on the ground rushing for over 300 yards in the contest. The Prairie Wolves started off with a touchdown on their first drive, and while the Storm moved the ball on their next several possessions, they couldn’t find the endzone and had to settle for a pair of field goals leading to a 7-6 deficit at the end of the first quarter. The Storm scored on a 5 yard pass from Tanner Krueger to Sam Bartlett with just 26 seconds before halftime to take a 13-7 lead into the break, but the second half is when the scoring started to ramp up. The Storm took a 20-7 lead on a Joe Meyer run, with Wesleyan answering, then another Storm field goal before the Prairie Wolves scored another touchdown to cut the lead down to 23-21. But another Sam Bartlett receiving touchdown sealed the victory with just 3:35 remaining in the contest. Meyer had 34 carries for 206 yards in the contest, and backup quarterback Seth Howard rushed for over 100 after Krueger suffered an injury in the third. The Storm improve to 4-1 on the season and 3-0 overall, and will try to get everyone healthy going into their bye week this Saturday.
