This is National Fire Prevention Week, a time for all residents to consider how to stay safe in case of a fire. Pella Fire Chief Doug Van Gorkom says they will be stopping by local schools this week and inviting students to their fire station to educate children about the importance of safety when fires occur. Van Gorkom says this is a time for all residents to check on fire and carbon monoxide detectors in a home, not only to check on batteries, but to make sure they aren’t past the manufacturer’s expiration date. The Pella Fire Department welcomes the entire community to come to their 3rd annual pancake breakfast on Saturday, October 12th from 6 to 10 a.m., with activities for kids, a raffle, and more. Donations will support a new UTV with a tank for Pella Rural Fire calls.
