fallcolors-2

Most trees in the area remain green in the latest Iowa DNR Fall Colors Report, but more fall like conditions have started the change to different colors more rapidly. In south central and southeast Iowa, most of the landscape remains green, although many bottomland species such as cottonwood, ash, elms, and walnut are starting to turn yellow. Many of the trees that turn red and purple still have yet to change over. A wet summer and fall in many places has caused some leaf diseases, which may hamper the overall color seen. According to the Iowa DNR, peak color should be expected starting in the middle of the month and continue through October 20th.
