The PCM volleyball team hosted Nevada Tuesday evening in Heart of Iowa Conference action. The 13th-ranked in 3A Cubs entered in a first place tie in the conference standings with a 4-0 record while PCM was seventh. Nevada finished off a 3-0 sweep, but it didn’t come easy.

Set 1 saw a back-and-forth start, eventually leading to a 10-8 Mustang lead. Nevada would finish off the set in quick fashion after that, winning it 25-14. Set two was somewhat a similar story, though PCM led by as many as four before the Cubs went on a big run to close out the set 25-16. Nevada had no problems in set 3, winning by a score of 25-8. Coming into the match, PCM Head Coach Mike Vittetoe wanted his team to play as mistake-free as possible, and he thought they did so.

Junior Celeste Wagaman had five kills to lead the way for the Mustangs while classmate Jacki Vos had four. Leading the way in assists was senior Shelby Voeller with seven, and senior Chloe Inskeep was the leader in digs with three. PCM is now 5-20 overall and 1-4 in the Heart of Iowa Conference. They’ll have a week off before they head to Roland-Story next Tuesday for their penultimate match of the regular season.
