The Indianola Public Safety Open House was held Thursday evening at the Indianola Fire Department, in conjunction with Fire Safety Week. Fire Captain Aaron Hurt tells KNIA News that the theme of this year was “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape” signaling that everyone can be a hero during Fire Prevention Week. Hurt suggests families should have a smoke alarm in all homes, making sure to change batteries, and a new safety tip of keeping bedroom doors closed during sleeping hours to help prevent smoke from entering. The Indianola Lions Club was an organizing partner for the open house, and dispatched the food, and the Iowa League of Heroes was present. Due to the rain, the Indianola Police Department and Warren County Sheriff’s Office personnel presence was limited at the event.
