Pella Christian jumped out to a 42-0 halftime lead and ran away from Colfax-Mingo 56-14 last night in a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
The Eagles defense didn’t give up a first down until late in the first half, and the offense scored on five straight possessions in what coach Rich Kacmarynski called a great team victory.
“Their quarterback has a strong arm and can really sling it. It was 49-0 when our starters came out, so we really pitched a shutout and I want to tip my hat to the defense. We also did some nice things offensively. They played kind of a different defense than we anticipated, and our offensive line picked up some nice adjustments.”
Jase Amelse and Dan Jungling had three touchdowns runs each for the Eagles, and Jungling hit Jack Vermeer on a 53-yard bomb just before halftime. PC’s last score was the first varsity touchdown for freshman running back Isaac Kacmarynski.
Pella Christian improves to 3-4 on the season and 3-0 in district play. They’ll host Woodward Granger, who’s also 3-0 in the district, next Friday night.
