In one of the most bizzaar games played in recent Knoxville Football memory, the Panthers pushed through and defeated South Tama last night in a harder than planned for 22-6 win on Homecoming as heard on 95.3 KNIA. The first half saw sloppy play from both teams as they combined to commit six turnovers, four by the Panthers, but they kept the Trojans out of the end zone, at least their end zone. South Tama was backed up at its own four yard line after a turnover when the Trojans fumbled the snap resulting in a safety for the game’s first tally and a 2-0 Knoxville lead. The Panthers would score on a Kieren Nichols touchdown run late in the first half to take an 8-0 lead into the halftime break. The Panthers would dominate the time of possession in the second half and score two fourth quarter touchdowns one with Mike Hudson catching a pass from Nichols and Carter Bailey running in from a yard out. Coach Eric Kellar told KRLS Sports with the weirdness of the game and the sloppy play, he was happy to get the win. Keegan Cox led the Panthers ground attack with nine carries for 101 yards. Knoxville has clinched a winning season at 5-2 and will travel to Oskaloosa for a week eight contest on Friday.
